airplane plague, trip update

So I made a new layout in part to disguise the fact that I have nothing to say. Ooh. I guess I could talk about my trip, eh?

First off, I got the Airplane Plague. Seriously, I’m like the sickliest person in the world lately. I just got over being sick right before Christmas, but something about all the germs and canned air and people in airplanes tends to totally mess with my poor immune system, because I often pick up diseases when I fly, and this time has been no exception.

New York was fuckin’ cold. Which just goes to show you that I’ve been spoiled by the moderate climate of southwest Virginia, because there was a time when I wouldn’t bat an eye upon learning that the temperature before windchill was a whopping 7 degrees. But the forecast wasn’t QUITE that cold when I left, so I neglected to pack the heaviest coats and scarves and layering materials that made my time in Chicago bearable, and when the wind whipped down into my peacoat on the tarmac at Monroe County International, I thought I was going to die.

We had a great time. Our vendors are awesome and were all too happy to wine and dine us, and we went along with the whole thing with nary a complaint. And they took us to Wegman’s, which is really more than a grocery store.

Yeah, that’s right. I went on a business trip and acted like a yokel tourist in a friggin’ grocery store. But it was Wegman’s! And as part of our glorious Wegman’s experience, we ate dinner at their restaurant, Tastings. It’s some of the best food I’ve ever had, and was paired with fantastic wine.

We also toured the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography & Film, which was absolutely incredible. I wish I lived there so that I could take advantage of the Dryden screenings.

And yes, we actually accomplished the work we went up there to do, and then some. This is my first day back in the office since before Christmas, and I swear I’ve never had such a draggingly slow day in my life.

My throat hurts. It’s cold. Thank goodness for heavy sweaters.

I missed you all. I’m glad to be back and stuff. Bear with me while I get back into the swing of things.
