Infatuation (with office supplies)

On Friday mornings, the local Top 40 radio station has started doing this thing between 8 and 8:30 where they bring in a few people to be a studio audience and they’ll play absolutely any song you request and everyone generally acts like a lunatic. This morning, here’s what they played:

  1. Def Leppard – “Photograph”
  2. Mark Morrison – “Return of the Mack”
  3. Charlie Daniels Band – “Devil Went Down to Georgia”
  4. Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg – “Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang”
  5. The Bee Gees – “Stayin’ Alive”
  6. Go-Go’s – “Vacation”

The sheer absurdity of it is hilarious – you really don’t know what’s going to come up next. It puts me in a good mood.

Planter’s Trail Mix also puts me in a good mood.

Oh! Here’s something else that I’m sickly fascinated with.

I love office supplies. I don’t know if I’ve ever written about my obscene obsession with office supplies, but I have one. I really, really like going through our office supply catalog and picking stuff out, and I especially like the end of the fiscal year, when we’re trying to burn off extra budget money, because then I get to order all kinds of cool things.

So I had my assistant get some Post-It flags the other day. The bright ones – none of that red/yellow/blue crap. I need pretty ones – pink and purple and turquoise. I don’t usually use Post-It flags but then I was working on these huge multi-thousand page reports yesterday and I used the whole pack. When I was looking in the catalog to find the item number to order more, I saw the coolest thing ever invented:

The Tridex Post-It Flag Dispenser.

And I had to have one. So I ordered two, because someone else in my office might need one too, or I might need two of my own. That thing is awesome.

Ow, the tendons in my wrists and shoulders huuuuuuuurt. I think it’s the head and humidity wreaking havoc on them. They usually only get painful when I’m doing flag work, because that’s how I got all the tendinitis in the first place. But now they’re hurting just because.

Aleve time.

  1. using post it “flags” (when did they stop being post it “notes”? -or are they not notes until one scribbles a message on one?) gives you tendinitis? (ha. just had to note the jumped segue)
Photograph and Vacation – yeah, I'd sing those songs to myself during their respective days.

hey lorie, toss me an aleve too, my neck is killing me.

  2. I have the post it flag dispenser at my desk and I love it. I also have the pop-up post-it dispenser and the die-cut post-it's: lips, hearts, thought bubbles and arrows. Maybe I have an office supply infatuation, too.

  3. Take an extra Aleve for therapy on your knees.

I love the GoGos. I had a crush on Belinda Carlisle, back in the early 80s before she got all skinny.

  4. Man, what a cool mix of songs to hear on the radio.

There's a radio station here that changed formats in the past week, and they're playing everyting from Gino Vanelli to Dee-Lite to U2 to …I could go on. The best part: it's still in it's “baby” stages so there's no commercials! Woo!
