starving

The good news is that I can straighten my arms today with minimal discomfort. Woo.

The bad news is that I’m freakin’ starving, and here’s what I want:

  • A peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat bread, cut in half diagonally. Creamy peanut butter and strawberry jam.
  • Some little slices of muenster cheese.
  • Some okra pickles. Mild.
  • Chocolate milk.

How totally bizarre is that? Marginally less bizarre when I remember that we have all of these things at home (except the chocolate for chocolate milk), and that I’ve been snacking on okra pickles and muenster for a few days now. But still. Bizarre.

Okra pickles are really good, y’all. Shut up.

Oh man, I’m starving.

  1. Strawberry jam! Chocolate milk! Mm! And I thought I was weird because I'm sitting here craving a salad with feta cheese, onions and tomato basil dressing. Mm! Hey, are you in for t-shirt making festivities on Saturday? We will also be drinking. A lot. A LOT.

  2. oooh. Probably. I will let you know – I have to go to the eye doctor and get contacts on Saturday and what I do that evening depends on the amount of shell-shock I'm in after spending all that money…but I would like to!

  3. I was at the grocery store last night for something else entirely, but I was walking past the dairy case and I saw the individual bottles of chocolate milk. I grabbed one, tore into it, and had it done by the time I got to the register. Oh, the shame of paying for an empty bottle of chocolate milk.

  4. 6. Keep careful food journal, re: What I Wanted/What I Ate.

Breakfast. What I wanted: pancakes with hot syrup. What I ate: cottage cheese, one slice tomato.

Snack. What I wanted: pancakes with hot syrup, smothered in melted butter, with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and sizzling hot bacon. What I ate: string cheese.

Lunch. What I wanted: club sandwich. What I ate: pancakes with hot syrup and peanut butter, three cold hot dogs, dipped in ranch dressing.

Snack. What I wanted: one chocolate-chip cookie. What I ate: 10 chocolate-chip cookies.

Dinner. What I wanted: grilled chicken caesar. What I ate: one package raw bacon.

Snack. What I wanted: sweet deliverance. What I drank: Pinot Grigio.

Anyway, just a tip on the contact thing. Go to the eye doctor and get your prescription, but don't order the lenses there. WAY too expensive. Opt for the Acuvue 2 type that you wear for 2 weeks then toss. I find that I can get away with a solid 4-6 (actually on 8 with this pair) weeks. Go to http://www.visiondirect.com to order. I've used them tons of times (it's part of drugstore.com) and have never had a problem. Will save you big bucks!

  6. Gwen, thanks for the tip! I have to wear torics in both eyes – does Acuvue 2 make those? And I will definitely check out visiondirect – I have been ordering from 1-800-contacts but will order from whoever is the cheapest. Why can't health insurance cover this??!

  7. Man walks into a doctor's office wearing nothing but cling-wrap.

“Doc looks up and says, I can clearly see your(e) nuts.”

I believe Mike feels that you are pregnant, clearly.

  8. I had been using 1800contacts until I realized that an order with them cost $186 and the same on was $127 with visiondirect. I'm not sure about the toric thing, but it's certainly worth looking into…

  9. Speaking of pickles. I had a turkey mustard mayo muenster and pickle sandwich last night with some chicken ramen. Good times. Seriously.
