Privileged

On Saturday I had the privilege of attending the wedding of two of my most favorite people in the world. It was beautiful and touching and just absolutely perfect, and I love them both and wish them all the best for the rest of their lives. We all had an awesome time and were really happy to be there to celebrate with them and their families. Oh, and after continual stress about what to wear, I ended up going with the purple dress, a slippery silver wrap-thing, silver shoes, and seriously Jackie O. hair. I don’t know if there are pictures, but if there are I’ll consider sharing. Oh, and the silver was matte, so don’t go getting all freaked out thinking I went full-on prom or anything.

On Sunday I had the privilege of nursing a Chardonnay hangover. That may be the last time I drink gallons of Chardonnay, which I don’t even really like that much to begin with, but I know for a fact that red wine gives me a more severe headache than white so I went with white to be “safe.” HA. SAFE, MY ASS. I should have had liquor. In the future when I plan to drink gallons of alcohol in a single evening, I pledge to make it hard liquor instead of beer or wine.

Yesterday I had the privilege of whining all day and taking tons of Sudafed in an attempt to relieve some of the hideous pressure in my sinuses. That was fun. Since I stayed home from work, I also got talked into making a pot roast for dinner, and it shockingly turned out to be pretty good. I think I may be acquiring domestic skills despite my best intentions to the contrary.

Today I have the privilege of being at work. THAT IS SO AWESOME.

  1. Why did you have to mention pot roast, Lorie? My vegetarian commitment is falling apart…

FWIW, when I drank, my worst hangovers were always from wine.

  2. i seem to remember a certain section smuggling boxes of FRANZIA into the NUMB banquet in 1999. now who’s drinking the nasty stuff?

  3. Red Wine gives me Heart Burn. I always drink white. You should look for wines Low in Tanin. Swirl the wine in the glass and look for streaks or “fingers” clinging to the sides of the glass. The more Fingers the worse the headache will be. Try German wines Like spatten or schpattlesse if you like sweeter wines without tanin. Stay away from Chablis or Chardonnay.
