What’s Happening

So yeah, I’m just going to start writing.

I’ve been really busy the past few days. It’s that time of year when my job really cranks up, and I’m about to embark on my yearly Month of Saturdays, as in Saturdays when I have to work. I have work engagements on the 18th, the 25th, and October 9th. I have personal engagements on the 11th, October 2nd, 16th, and 30th. The only Saturday where I have nothing planned so far is the 23rd of October, and it’s possible that I may have to work that day. Yikes. At least this year I no longer have to work on every Sunday as well, as I did for the past three years. I had to work yesterday, because we don’t have Labor Day as a holiday, but I didn’t get much done. It’s rainy and kind of chilly here, and with Miss Depressed Frances on her way up here to share her doom and gloomy mood with us, I expect it will become rainier and chillier soon.

I’ve been playing my old-school Nintendo. Dragon Warrior IV, to be exact. I’ve been reading – I finished Lucky over the weekend, am currently struggling a bit through Naked, and I have, as Jen calls it, “the book about the autistic kid who hates brown and yellow” up next. I’ve been watching old episodes of Sex and the City on DVD. I made a casserole-type thing this weekend (St. Paul’s Rice, which is excellent). I’m Betty freakin’ Crocker over here.

I want to see Garden State. I want all the crap I ordered last week to get here. My LAF yellow bracelets FINALLY arrived over the weekend, after a few exchanges of pissy/perky emails (pissy from me, perky from them). I really need to get my oil changed. I need to get some gray pants. I need to balance my checkbook.

I’m still thoroughly disgusted with my site design, still working on a new one, and still hating everything I come up with. Bleargh.

I did, however, buy a new hairdryer, which seems to be working out much better than the old one so far. Nobody has ripped one at PT lately, and I’m actually starting to see some benefits from my therapy (which is getting increasingly difficult each week). Charlotte still lives on our back door but isn’t spinning webs lately, and we’re not sure why. I think she’s either gearing up to have a million baby spiders, or she’s dying. I told my parents that if they see a big honkin’ egg sac one day, they are required, as my parents and protectors, to destroy it, thus aborting the millions of baby spiders.

And that’s about it, for now.

  1. Meant to get this to you sooner. *link
I watched VanityFair last night and I think you'd really like it. Now I've got to get out and watch Garden State before it passes me by.

Your design-trouble talk has twice 'caused me to remember the first out-going msg on <a href=”http://www.homestarrunner.com/answer1.html

  2. I finished “The Curious Incident …” on the plane today. Still compiling my thoughts on it, so more on that later.

We saw Garden State Saturday and really, really liked it (Brian, in particular). It's definitely a must-see.

  3. Sounds like you have an interesting variety of dabblings as of late. Just a note: video action games tend to stimulate the adrenal glands, which mean you become pumped up on adrenaline. Ok if you are just about to exercise, not good in almost every other situation. Can make one look old long before their time.

  4. I would go with your suspicion about Charlotte gearing up to have the motherload of all spiderbabies.

Everyone I know down here has been killing off spiderbabie monster egg sacks as of late.

    EW. Stupid freaks of nature.
