Sugarhigh

Bleh, I don’t feel good.

Last night I conked out on the couch almost immediately after getting home and then ended up staying up waaaay past my bedtime to watch Empire Records on We. Or is it WE? Whatever. It had commercials and the cursing was bleeped, so that sucked a little, but I seriously love that movie. It’s weird, because I only saw it for the first time recently, but it’s exactly the kind of movie I would have watched a million times and loved in high school. Now it’s the kind of movie I’ll watch a million times and love as a pseudo-adult. I don’t know why I never saw it in high school.

Empire Records is also notable as a film because it’s one of the movies Renee Zellweger appeared in before she became seriously famous (and seriously too-thin and seriously annoying and seriously affected), and back when she was seriously unfamous, Renee Zellweger used to open her eyes all the way. I mean it. It’s true. I’ve seen it with my own (wide-open) eyes. So for anyone who thinks that squinty-thing she does now is just the way she looks, think again, because I know for a fact that she is quite capable of opening her eyes.

Ha. I also notice from her IMDB resume that she appeared to begin adding an accent above the second “e” sometime after she started to get famous. Or maybe it was just a mistake until recently. Some of her earlier roles are credited “as Renee Zellweger,” and now it’s Renée Zellweger all the way, and don’t you forget it. And Debbie Gibson is now Deborah Gibson and a serious actress.

I really need to get that on DVD, I think.

This weekend I don’t think I have anywhere I need to be, which is nice. I’ve been pretty busy the last few weekends and I have some busy weekends ahead. And I’m feeling a little under the weather so this weekend will be a good chance for me to rest up a bit. I’m also hoping to finish the alleged “one-day spring cleaning project” I started in my room several weeks ago and have yet to finish. So, you know, wish me luck with that.

  1. Empire Records is in my top five favorite movies of all time. Rory Cochrane is so damn cute in that movie I just want to hug him. I think watching that movie a zillion times in high school is what started my obsession with him, actually.
