Posted on 04/22/2005 09:56 pm by lorieI’m Lorie. I don’t use my last name here often, but it’s certainly not a secret. I’m pretty easy to find. I am 29 years old. I went to a pretty crappy rural public high school and then to one of the top private universities in the country, so I like to think I have a fairly interesting perspective on lots of different kinds of people. I’ll tell you for sure that the wealthy, educated people and the poor, uneducated people I’ve met are not as different as you might think.
I have an excellent boyfriend named Seth, who is 367 days older than I am. I have two living parents who are still married to each other, and three younger sisters. I have three grandmothers and one grandpa. Figure that one out. My sisters told me recently that if we were all Peanuts characters, I’d be Lucy Van Pelt.
I live with my two cats, Abby and Marco, in a town in Virginia. I think this is the fifteenth place I’ve lived since I was born, but I’m not positive about that. I’m lucky to be part of a big, crazy, really close family, and I live where I live right now so that I may be close to them physically as well as emotionally. It’s only recently that I’ve begun to value the physical proximity as much as I should. I work in administrative higher ed. I have a good job, and I try to be good at it, and I try not to write about it here.
I know more than I used to know, less than I will know, and nowhere near all there is to know. I can’t tell you much, if anything, here that someone else can’t do better. I am not an expert in anything except what it’s like to be me, and I’m not entirely sure I have that figured out yet either.
I tell stories. That’s really the point. Almost all of them are almost entirely true.
I’d love to hear from you if you’re reading. Please visit the contact page to get in touch with me, or leave a comment on any post.
