Sad, Confused, Angry, Horrified, Relieved, Hopeful, et al. Rinse. Repeat.

I haven’t written about the hurricane so far because it is affecting me deeply, and my emotions and thoughts are in so many places that I’m finding it hard to collect them into a post that makes any sense. And I’ve found some of what I’m feeling too personal to share here. And I’m really busy at work this week, too, so there’s that. I’ve banned myself from watching, reading, or listening to any more news for a little while, because some of it is honestly becoming too much for me to process.

I was FINALLY able to get through to the Red Cross online donation form today, and I made a gift. I wish I could give more, but I try to remind myself that every little bit adds up. I sincerely hope you’ll consider making a gift to the Red Cross, or to another relief organization of your choice. If you feel you can’t afford it now, that’s okay. They’ll need gifts for a long time, so you can give next week or next month or even longer from now, and it’s still going to help.

If you live within a reasonable driving distance of areas affected by the storm, you might want to consider offering housing to some refugee families if you are able. You can learn more about that effort at www.hurricanehousing.org.

That’s all for now.
